Garfield, WA
Situated in the
Palouse Hills region, surrounded by awe-inspiring scenery and golden
wheat fields,
Garfield presents an idyllic quality which is
a refreshing change from the fast paced hustle and bustle of this
modern world.
Garfield’s local businesses and
establishments include a restaurant, a tavern, a
specialty gift and ice cream store, a
meat market, the J.E. Love Company and McGregor manufacturing
companies and several home based businesses, provide economic
opportunities that exceed expectations.
A more attractive and friendly town
would be hard to find. Although small with a population
of roughly 600, the town is well equipped to serve the
need of its residents. High quality city services are
provided including police, fire, water, sewer, road
maintenance, and park services. The town boasts an
excellent swimming pool and park.
A compact downtown hosts a post office,
bank, attorney, accounting office, medical clinic,
beauty shop, barber, ice cream and specialty shop, building contractor, tavern,
restaurant, meat market and landscape service. Medical services are available in town.
Just south of town on SR 27, is a quilt store.

Contractors Get Added to the
Small Works Roster
The
Town of Garfield is now accepting applications for its
Small Works Roster of Contractors. The Small
Works Roster of Contractors may be used for the
construction, building, renovation, repair, or
improvement of real property where the estimated
cost does not exceed $200,000. Applications may be

Architects/Engineers Get Added to the
Professional Services Roster
The Town of Garfield is
requesting Statements of Qualifications for
consulting engineering firms to provide the Town
with a roster for engineering services with respect
to projects planned for 2009 through 2012.
Projects for this period may
include but are not limited to:
- Transportation
Improvement Board (TIB) funded project(s)
- WA State Dept of
Transportation (WSDOT) funded project(s)
- WA State Dept of
Ecology (DOE) funded project(s)
- Community Trade and
Economic Development (CTED) funded project(s)
- Water system
improvements
- Sewer system
improvements
- Street Projects
Consulting work may include:
Development of plans and specifications, planning,
right of way appraisal, construction inspection,
construction management, and help in securing
funding. The Town published this request in
accordance with the requirements of RCW 39.80.
Contracts with selected firms will be negotiated in
accordance with RCW 39.80.
The Town of Garfield reserves the
right to select different consulting firms for
projects based on experience and qualifications.
